Dubai Airshow To Showcase Western Jet Orders As China Debuts Competitor
The upcoming Dubai Airshow, scheduled for November 17-21 2025, is expected to reflect a shifting competitive landscape in global aviation. Western manufacturers like Airbus are anticipated to announce major orders—potentially including the A350-1000 for Emirates — as they try to narrow the gap with Boeing, which continues to face delays (such as the 777X programme being roughly seven years behind schedule). Meanwhile, Chinese manufacturer COMAC plans to make the international debut of its C919 aircraft at the show, seeking to challenge the A320neo and Boeing 737 in the Middle East and Africa markets, though it is still years from Western certification. Around 300 aircraft orders could be announced during the show, about half of what was seen at the peak of previous airshows. The event also carries a defence dimension: interest in U.S. stealth jets such as the F-35 is reported to be rising in the region. Russia’s Su-57E and U.S. defence-tech firms like Anduril Industries will also be present, making the Dubai Airshow a focal point for both commercial and military aviation developments.
